Tech giant Apple.Inc has launched its second speaker. That too a smart speaker in India after announcing it back in 2018 in a few countries. The HomePod page has gone live on Apple India’s official website with India pricing. Its availability date has not been announced yet. HomePod is a smart speaker developed by Apple Inc., the company’s second speaker after the iPod Hi-Fi.
Apple HomePod, which is 6.8-inch tall, uses the company’s signature audio technology of apples patented assistant Siri. The smart speaker is powered by Apple’s A8 chip. There is also a mesh fabric design to give a premium hands-on experience that is available in White and Space Grey color options. It was initially launched at 349 USD (which is roughly Rs 24,900 in Indian currency) in the United States. After a while it received a price cut, bringing its cost down to 299 USD (roughly Rs 21,300).
The speaker comes with a range of connectivity options, including Wi-Fi 802.11ac with MIMO and Bluetooth v5.0. Users can wirelessly connect iOS or iPadOS device with the HomePod to play music or listen to podcasts. The top of the HomePod sports a touch panel that enables gesture controls. Moreover, the speaker also comes with AirPlay 2 support to let you enable a multi-room audio experience using multiple HomePod devices at your home.
The speaker debuted in the US, UK, and Australia in February 2018 and reached Canada, France, and Germany after a little over four months of its initial availability. The smart speaker will be available in India “soon” as stated by the company on their official website.
